Smoothies are a nutritious way to incorporate fruits, vegetables, and other healthy ingredients into your diet. It's important to sip smoothies slowly, to aid digestion and maximize nutrient absorption. Smoothies are a convenient and tasty way to boost nutrient intake, especially if you struggle to get enough vegetables and fruits daily. Generally we prefer blending (smoothies) over juicing. Blending whole fruits and vegetables into smoothies retains the beneficial fiber, which is important for digestive health and satiety.
In contrast, juicing removes much of the fiber, which can lead to a quicker spike in blood sugar levels. However, we do not completely dismiss juicing and acknowledges that it can be beneficial for some people, such as those with digestive issues who may need to avoid fiber-rich foods temporarily, and for those with severe chronic illnesses that need to quickly flood the body's cells with micronutrients in order to speed up the healing process.
